Keep a one-week kitchen diary
Notice where people cross paths, what stays on the counter and which cupboards you avoid. Write down three repeated frustrations before collecting inspiration images.
A little preparation makes the first conversation more useful. Start with the way the room works today.

Group everyday dishes, pans, pantry items and small appliances. Note what needs to stay close to preparation, cooking and cleanup areas.
Bring rough room dimensions, a few photographs, the age of the home if known, your target timing and a list of everyone involved in decisions.
Consider a temporary cooking area, food storage, pets, children, work-from-home routines and delivery access. Ask how the work area and daily communication will be managed.
Ask what is included, excluded and provisional. Clarify material allowances, trade responsibilities, approvals, payment stages and how changes will be agreed.
Tell us about the room, your priorities and where you are in the planning process.
